About McGowans
History of McGowans
Since 1993 when McGowans made its first foray into the world
of digital print, it has continually been at the forefront of new and superior print
technology. We were the first company in Ireland to offer true 24-bit colour giving
a smooth and attractive continuous tone ideal for gradients and blends. Our next
move, into large format prints, was again innovative in that we could offer prints
four foot wide by practically any length, a move that was universally welcomed by
exhibitors and design studios. This inspired us to set up our own in-house finishing
department capable of dealing with our own work and more. For external graphics
we offer 3M Scotchprint graphics with a five year guarantee. Fleet graphics, outdoor
durable signage, window graphics and numerous other applications are possible with
3M Vinyls.
Even today we still continue to improve our service with new and exciting machinery
such as the Lambda. The first machine of its kind in this country, it can achieve
true photographic quality with stunning results and is versatile in that it can
also produce backlit material.
The short run print market was a natural progression for us and we entered with
style using not one but two Indigo Digital printing machines, the Indigo Turbo stream
and the Indigo Ultrastream. This allowed us to offer a 24 hour turnaround time from
receipt of disc to delivery of completed job with a high professional standard every
time.
Now, not wishing to rest on our laurels and recognising our customers needs we are
proud to offer you our latest acquisition, the Xeikon Digital web press. (Need I
mention it's the first in Ireland?). Capable of the same quality and speed as the
Indigo, including the ability to print duplex (double-sided) B2 size at a reasonable
cost to the consumer. In fact because it is a web fed machine it can do any length,
duplex banners are a matter of course to the Xeikon.
Research and Development
McGowans has always been at the forefront of new digital technology. Constantly
striving to seek out the best new machinery to suit modern demands.
From Conception to Completion
Because of the wide variety of machines available in our premises on Dublin's Cork
Street it is possible for us to take a job right through from start to finish all
under one roof. One of the many good examples of this is the fantastic GAA Museum
in Croke Park, for which we printed and finished all the graphics under one roof
and it is still one of our proudest achievements due to the project's sheer scale.
"The amount of panels produced in such a short time was impressive,
but the most outstanding thing which continued all the way through the job was your
skillful handling of such a large amount of material without confusion or errors"
- Jackie Baines - Senior Designer, GAA Museum
